Notes:
Comparing against the description by Price and Bersweden (2013, p.23): Twigs are "usually hairless but sometimes slightly downy". The image to right shows a slightly downy twig.
This tree is next to the river Great Ouse and this species is "usually found growing on the banks of rivers and streams".
Buds are "spiralling". Occasionally some bud tips were curving away from the stem like a "duck's beak", as shown in the image to right.
